Data sources

Where the listings come from, under which licence, and their limits.

Nidora favours real, legally reusable data. Every listing shows its source, licence and update date. We never invent availability and never collect any source against its terms.

CROUS — student housing (data.gouv.fr)

Official higher-education dataset 'fr_crous_logement_france_entiere': 825 CROUS residences listed across France, with geolocation, services and official booking links. Freely reusable under the Open Licence (Etalab) with attribution. We only publish residences that can be tied to a reliable town: those whose location cannot be established unambiguously are excluded (we never invent a location), so the number of residences actually published — shown in the table above — is slightly lower than the listed total. Rents are provided as free text: when a clear amount is available it is reproduced faithfully, otherwise the listing shows 'rent to be confirmed'.

Demonstration listings

When no real data is present (for example on a fresh install), a few fictitious listings may illustrate the interface. They are clearly labelled 'demo' and automatically hidden as soon as the CROUS data is loaded. In production, only official CROUS residences are shown.

Partners & affiliation

No commercial partner is active today and no commission is earned. Should partnerships be added, they would be enabled via credentials passed through environment variables (never hard-coded) and clearly disclosed.

Known limits of the CROUS dataset

The dataset only covers public CROUS residences (France), not the private market or shared flats. It exposes no real-time availability: Nidora links to the official housing application. As rents are free text, some remain shown as 'rent to be confirmed'.

Deliberately excluded sources

WG-Gesucht and Kamernet forbid or do not allow automated collection: Nidora does not scrape them. A manual CSV import remains available for data provided under agreement.
